Officers reported they were notified by a individual who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then located many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police report early analysis show the fluid was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.

An important official said the incident rendered him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
