Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille struck twice late to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last thirteen seasons.
